Become a professional client
You might qualify if you meet two out of the three criteria below:
- You’ve carried out a minimum of 10 significantly sized transactions at a frequency of 10 per quarter over the previous four quarters.
- The size of your investment portfolio, including cash deposits and financial instruments*, exceeds €500,000
- You’ve worked (or work) in the financial sector for at least one year in a professional position, which requires knowledge of the transactions or services envisaged

*Financial instruments includes shares, derivatives (only cash deposits made to fund/profits realised from investing in derivatives), debt instruments and cash deposits. It does not include property portfolios, direct commodity ownership or notional values of leveraged instruments.
The features of being a professional client
Every new client of EasyMarketsEU is automatically a Retail classified client unless they decide to upgrade to be an Elected Professional. Please read the following information carefully and then use the form above to confirm whether you’d like to opt-up from a retail to professional client with EasyMarketsEU. We’ll then get in touch for next steps.
Features you keep
- Segregation of your money – we’ll continue to segregate your money according to existing conditions
- Financial Services Compensation Scheme – you’ll still be eligible for FSCS protection up to £85,000 you hold with us
- Financial Ombudsman Service – you’re still able to use the FOS for complaints should you not be satisfied with the service we provide
- Right to request – a different categorisation at any time, if you wish to be classified as a retail trader once more
- Negative balance protection – professional clients with EasyMarketsEU benefit from negative balance protection, meaning losses cannot exceed, but may include, all deposited funds. Not all brokers offer this feature!
Features you lose
- Risk warnings – EasyMarketsEU will no longer be required to provide you with the current risk warnings for retail clients or any standardised risk warning that is introduced in future in relation to transactions in complex financial products
- Communications and financial promotions – Certain FCA or equivalent rules relating to the form and content of information provided by EasyMarketsEU do not apply, including those relating to communications and financial promotions
